Biography

Hi! My name is Eje, and I’m a senior double concentrating in Health and Human Biology (Mind, Brain, and Behavior track) and Psychology. I’m pre-med with a strong interest in surgery; last summer I participated in an undergraduate surgical fellowship that gave me the opportunity to scrub in and assist in surgeries—a super cool and incredibly transformative experience!! At Brown, I do research in the Belenky Lab in MMI, where I study how early-life stress impacts cognition and behavior through the gut–brain axis. I also work with a lab at Stanford where I’m involved in clinical urologic research. I’ve had a variety of research experiences spanning both wet lab and dry lab work, and I’d love to share advice on getting involved in different kinds of research opportunities. On campus, I serve as a DUG Leader for HHB, so I’m always eager to talk about navigating courses, concentration requirements, and finding opportunities like summer research/clinical programs. Beyond academics, I’m on the exec boards for AfriSA and Christian Union. I’m also a Connect for Health Advocate and I volunteer in the Providence community. If you want to chat about courses, getting into labs, pre-med opportunities, or just navigating biology at Brown, I’d be more than happy to connect!
